Hello friends,
Welcome to another post from The 3Min Club, where each week (or so), you’ll receive 3Ms (movement, mindfulness, mantra) from me to do in 3 minutes. No matter where we are right now, taking the right actions is the key to live better positive lives.
Have you heard of Medium Writing Challenge (MWC) where the top winner gets $60,000?
I have never joined an English writing challenge in my life. Just this one time where I represented my school in a nationwide Mandarin Chinese essay writing competition at 14. I was annihilated! Hahaha.
So nearly 23 years later, I thought why not try my hand at creative non-fiction writing? Life is short and full of surprises. And if we don’t try, we never will know what will come our way!
MWC has 4 categories, Space, Work, Death, and Reentry. I have no idea which category will resonate with me. But as I dug my old journals for materials, I found an entry about a dream I had years ago.
I still remembered the dream vividly as it involves my sexy alter egos, love for adventure travel, and having a space as wide as the mind can imagine.
And thus my first entry was submitted under the category of Space. Read more
Here’s hoping I win something, if not, that’s okay. I know I tried and gave it my best shot.
WHAT SPACES ARE YOU CREATING TODAY?
We live in spaces the day we are formed. In our mother’s womb, in a baby cot, in a bed, in a room. We travel and work in spaces. Our spaces can make and break us. Our spaces can prime us into a flow state or distract us out of focus. We even create or clutter the spaces in our heads!
With the ongoing climate crisis, devasting fires and floods, and the Afghan humanitarian crisis, millions of people are fleeing, moving, and hunting for spaces where they can live in security and peace.
Right now, if we have a comfortable roof over our heads, let’s be grateful for it. And just for today, remember to create space for our 3Ms in 3min practice.
It all begins there.
Yours,
Yan
For each M, set a timer for 1 minute each.
For the First Minute,
1) Movement - Reverse Hip Bridge to One-Arm Sky Reach
This is a follow-up to last week’s move of Reverse Bridge Rock. If you missed it, check out the post here with the movement.
For the next Second Minute
2) Mantra - “I AM READY FOR POSITIVE CHANGE”
Start a timer for 1-minute. Repeat the above statement, either silently in your head or out loud.
Do this with slow and deep breaths or whatever feels comfortable for you. Repeat until 1 minute is up.
For the 3rd Minute
3) Mindfulness - Coloring
Let’s bring today’s mindfulness practice back to a forgotten activity — Coloring!
(Note: This is not connected to any spiritual or religious practice.)
What you will need:
A couple of color pencils or a full set like Colleen.
Either a print-out of any calming picture or mandala you can find or a blank sheet of paper. (Some art links for you to print)
What to do:
For the next one minute, just color in whatever colors or shades you like.
If it’s a blank sheet of paper, you can draw whatever comes into your mind or sight, or simply just shades hues of colors.

Did you know?
There is a real benefit to mindful coloring.
Coloring activates the reward centers of your brain. In other words, it promotes dopamine secretion, it makes you feel pleasurable and happy. Yay to happiness. 😊
