[Xmas Day 7] How A Perfectionist Found The Courage to Collaborate
On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me..
Hello, friends of Yours,Yan
đ On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to meâŠ
COURAGE COLLABORATION
Tinkering with the idea of partnerships and collaborations have been on my mind for a long time. But I often let the fear of rejection get the better of me, perhaps missing out on multiple golden opportunities. This led me to be a âlone-rangerâ most of the time.Â
This year, as I tuned into my inner calling and sought to pivot my health and well-being business from womenâs health to serving cancer survivors (itâs still a work in progress by the way), I started to feel more open to partnerships and collaborations.Â
I have not figured out a full game plan yet as to how this might pan out in 2023 but itâs all right. These days, I learned to trust more into the journey and let it guide me along the way.Â
Several months back, I started toying with the idea of podcasting to my creative projects via Substack or launch an entire new podcast show on Apple and Spotify. But I held back as I got demotivated by the number of creative projects I launched during the pandemic but seemed to show no noteworthy results. (YouTube, Blog writing on Medium, Newsletter on Substack, creating course programs.)
Just when I was about to give up, I got invited to as a podcast guest and collaborate for a few episodes, sharing about my cancer survivorship journey and all things health and well-being.Â
You can imagine how I must have felt! This is effortless action in the making, people!Â
I ditched my perfectionist mindset, and go with the âdone is better than perfectâ and â70 is the new 100â affirmations I have been saying to myself the whole of 2022.
Even though I donât have all the fancy podcast equipments or had anything figured out, and said yes! All I knew was, I felt aligned with this opportunity and my gut response was on fire for it too.
AFTERMATH THOUGHTS
I confess that I felt like a complete flop after recording the episode but after listening to it a few times, it wasnât so bad indeed.Â
Patting myself on my back for having the courage to take on the opportunity, putting my voice out there, and shared it on other socials.Â
And if you donât know where you lie and have a short attention span, watch 5-part highlights on my Instagram.
Part 1: Opening, the nerves and all.
Part 2: Chatting about constant stressors and homeostasis.
Part 3: Spooky truth!
Part 4: Building good habits as part of health resiliency is paying off 15 - years later
Finale: Yay! We landed the show.
Thank you for listening and reading.Â
đ DAY 7 GIFT FOR YOUR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Do you have 180 seconds to spare?
Iâll like to invite you and reflect on some ways you have shown Courage and Collaboration in the year 2022?Â
What was that like for you? How did that feel?Â
Did you know?
Practicing courage may have some positive impact on our health too, particularly with building mental resilience, anxiety management and stress response?Â
(However, courage is not to be confused with reckless behavior.)
And if you are like me, a bit of a semi lone-wolf and perfectionist, collaboration, when done right, can positively influence our mental health too since itâs a form of human connection.Â
đ Your Turn
Are you thinking of collaboration and partnerships too?Â
What is your real intention and motivation for doing so?Â
I would love to hear your feelings on this.Â
Till Day 8 of Xmas-gifting,
Yours,
Yan â€ïž
