[Xmas Day 12] Cacao Your Way To Soothe The Holiday Fatigue
On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me...
Hello, friends of Yours,Yan
đ On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love sent to meâŚ
WARM BROWNS FOR THE BLUES
Earlier this year, it dawned upon me that more so than ever, we are living in a âburn-outâ world. Almost everything and everyone is aiming to grab our attention, our energy and our resources.
It weirded my gut as the integrity side of me was screaming, âYan, if this is so, then why are you writing your newsletter? Stop adding to this rampant burnout culture, especially in the post-covid world. We need fewer words, not more. And if you are to write, then put something out there that is truly valuable and unique, or else I am just noise.âÂ
And so, I stopped writing for about 6 months until a post I received from a fellow Substack writer.Â
A while back,
wrote about the âReader Burnoutâ. It struck a chord with me, as I have both been someone who went through burnout from cancer fatigue and entrepreneurship, as well as previously working with women with burnout.ÂShe aptly described the feeling so well, and helped to articulate this gut feeling that I had.Â
After reading through the comments and doing some Christmas reflection, I decided to rethink how I want to write this newsletter with a bit more intention to add value to your current lives.Â
Itâs the holidays and the year 2022 seemed to be a bit of mix bag of strangeness as we learned to find our new footings to navigate re-integration to socializing, to various work policies, ever-changing travel restrictions and rules or simply just managing any long-Covid symptoms if any.Â
All these may be additional stressors for our nervous systems, and we definitely need support for this before our health spirals.Â
Many of us are celebrating Christmas Day today. And right here in Singapore where I am at, my body is signaling that I am feeling slightly fatigued.
As a practitioner of health resiliency, I am aware of employing strategies to manage this before my immunity takes a toll.
A wonderful secret strategy that I go to is making a nice warm/hot cocoa-cinnamon drink (the milk-less way)Â
(Recipe in below)
Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays, my friends,Â
I hope youâll enjoy the day as much as I did.
Thank you for making this far with me the last 12 days.Â
My wish for you is for the rest of 2022, may your days are full of peace, joy and love with those who mattered to your heart.
đ DAY 12 GIFT FOR YOUR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
My secret recipe to ease the sightly burn-out body as follows:
1 TBSP of unsweetened cacao powder (organic is good, but not essential)
1 TSP cinnamon powderÂ
1 cup of hot waterÂ
Mix them and sip them. Simple as 1-2-3.
OptionalÂ
1 tsp of MacaÂ
1 tsp of Goji BerriesÂ
1 tsp of TurmericÂ
Why Cacao?
Cacao is packed full of magnesium, a mineral that is often depleted in chronically stressed out bodies. This is the reason why we love to drink hot cocoa, especially during cold winter nights. It makes us feel so loved and embraced. The feel-good natural feeling is definitely there.Â
Why Not Add Milk?
I chose not to add milk, as I am going diary-free in this season of my life.Â
If you like to, you can add your favorite choice of milk.Â
There you go, you donât need supplements or drugs to support your body from the holiday fatigue.Â
đ YOUR TURN
Now, go make yourself a cup of brown loving kindness on Christmas Day.Â
Do you have other go-to strategies to manage fatigue and burn-out? Share your strategies in the comments.
Stay warm everyone.Â
Till my next post,
Yours,
Yan â¤ď¸
